LA nightlife doesn’t stop on the weekends, and honestly, some of the best nights happen during the week. If you’re tired of the Saturday night rush, tourist-heavy crowds, or struggling to get into packed clubs, it might be time to rethink your going-out calendar.
Weeknights in LA offer a more curated vibe: the music still hits, the drinks are still flowing, and the crowd? Usually a little more dialed in. Whether you're new to the city, visiting for a few days, or just looking for something that feels more local, this guide covers three go-to nights where the energy stays high without the chaos. For Rare members, these nights are often favorites—weekdays are when you really feel the community. It’s also when we’re most likely to host our exclusive giveaways and surprise activations, just for members who know where to be.
Here’s where to go out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in LA if you're looking for good music, stylish crowds, and a night you’ll actually want to remember.
Monday Nights at Poppy, a Laid-Back Luxe Kickoff
Mondays might sound like a strange time to go out, but in LA, Poppy proves that the week can start with a bang. Located in West Hollywood, this venue has a dreamy, eclectic design. Think velvet booths, whimsical garden touches, and a polished crowd that’s just the right amount of extra.
Monday nights at Poppy are a local secret. They’re my personal favorite - a break from the weekend chaos with the same great energy. If you’re someone who goes out and really wants to dance, this is your night. The evening especially draws creatives, nightlife regulars, and industry folks. The music features a mix of hip-hop and top 40 hits.
If you're looking to go out on a Monday without regretting it on Tuesday, Poppy is the move. You’ll find good music, a chill (but still glamorous) vibe, and the kind of people who know how to keep it classy even after midnight.
Local tips:
Dress to impress: heels and elevated fits go a long way.
Show up by 11 PM to avoid a wait at the door - though typically not as chaotic as the weekend, Poppy does reach capacity quickly on Mondays. Reserving with a promoter can help.
Wednesday Nights at Zouk, the Midweek Pick-Me-Up You Didn’t Know You Needed
Zouk is LA’s newest club and is already becoming one of the most desired places to go on a night out. On Wednesdays, Zouk hits that rare sweet spot: high energy with an exclusive crowd that keeps the vibe just right.
It’s a true dance floor vibe, and the crowd reflects that. The LED visuals and light show are next-level, and the sound system can carry everything without missing a beat. And on Wednesdays, the set features mostly R&B and B-sides. With Nitrane as the resident DJ on Wednesdays, the setlist is always just right - keeping you singing along all night.
Midweek nightlife tends to feel like an afterthought in most cities. Not here. Zouk, in partnership with Made Nightlife, has brought the iconic SaadiQ parties from its legendary days at The Highlight Room to the brand-new venue, reviving Wednesdays with the same electric energy, curated crowd, and can’t-miss atmosphere that made it a midweek staple and a Rare member favorite.
Local tips:
Wednesdays are popular, so guest list or table reservations help.
Bring your energy—Zouk isn’t for the passive partygoer.
Friday Nights at Harriet’s Rooftop, Sunset Views and Weekend Energy
Located atop the 1 Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, Harriet’s Rooftop is a Friday favorite for good reason. It’s the perfect start to your weekend - unwind from the stress of your week in an idyllic rooftop setting. Think skyline views, plush seating, chic cocktails, and a crowd that knows how to transition from sunset drinks to let’s dance.
Fridays at Harriet’s feel like a high-fashion rooftop party. You’ll see everything from birthday crews dressed to the nines to models and creatives catching a post-dinner vibe. The music skews trendy—top 40 and hip hop—you’ll find yourself dancing before you realize it’s midnight, and you’ll probably find me walking around with an espresso martini (tequila, not vodka).
It’s a great spot for celebrations or if you want a more refined night out without losing the fun. Harriet’s offers that rare mix of great drinks, great music, and great people, all set against the stunning LA skyline.
Local tips:
Nightclub standards still apply for the Friday night parties at Harriet’s Rooftop. Expected dress code, table and guest list reservations, and the like to reflect those standards.
Friday nights aren’t the only time Harriet’s is 21+. Make sure to check out their website to plan your visit accordingly.
Bonus Tips for Weeknight Going Out in LA
If you’re hitting the scene on a weekday, a little strategy goes a long way. Here are some helpful things to keep in mind:
Dress code still matters: High-end venues maintain their dress-to-impress vibe, especially midweek when crowds are smaller and more curated.
Guest list helps: Even on a Monday or Wednesday, showing up without a plan can lead to long lines and cover charges. If you have a host or contact, contact them beforehand.
Don’t wait until 1 AM: Most people head out earlier during the week, so peak time is usually between 11:00 PM and 12:30 AM.
LA nightlife doesn’t sleep just because it’s a weekday, and that’s part of the magic. Whether you're breathing energy into your week with a luxe Monday at Poppy, finding your midweek rhythm at Zouk, or catching city lights on a Friday at Harriet’s, there's always a vibe waiting for you.
And if you're ever unsure where to go, these three nights are a solid starting point. Consider this your local cheat sheet for night-outs that never feel like a waste of a fit.
